A migrant worker may know where to report an injury or raise a salary dispute, yet still have no idea where to turn when they cannot afford food, transport or medical care. The need is immediate. The route to help often is not.
Research by The Majurity Trust shows awareness and use of financial assistance remain significantly lower than for other forms of support. That question led Ray of Hope to develop the Migrant Worker Intake Officer pilot with HealthServe, supported by the NCSS 4ST Partnership Fund.
10 migrant workers completed training in outreach, translation support and campaign preparation — moving the first point of contact closer to the community, and freeing an estimated 240 casework hours.
